We train farriers from complete novice status to experienced farriers who wish to improve and specialise. We take on a new apprentice each year because we believe in contributing to the craft and the equine industry, and we are then able to instil our own standards from the very beginning of their career.
We are continually contacted by farriers from around the UK and overseas wishing to gain employment experience; often with a view to upgrading themselves to Diploma or Associate level. We have trained farriers from outside the UK to pass the DipWCF examination and three went on to pass the AWCF. Our close relationship with Rossdale’s Equine Hospital provides an opportunity to become involved with many interesting cases; essential for higher level studies.
All farriers in the UK must be registered from the very start of training. Simon Curtis is an Approved Training Farrier (ATF) and we regularly have our facilities checked.
