Russ Brownrigg DipWCF
Russ served his apprenticeship with Martin Hogan and at O. A. Curtis from 1994 – 1998 before returning to Sussex to run his own business. He returned eight years later to take up the position of Forge Manager. He is also responsible for shoeing at two major training yards and personally looking after some stud work. Russ also lectures at the British Racing School.

Mark Curtis
Mark joined O. A. Curtis & Sons from school in 1973. After serving an apprenticeship with his father, he looked after some of the top yards in Newmarket, including Sir Mark Prescott. He became a partner in 1983. He retired from the partnership in 2006 but continues to work for us, looking after Stetchworth Park, Newsells Park and Stanley House Studs.

Sergio Muelle Goldstein AWCF
Sergio’s initial training was with the Cavalry in Madrid. He joined us in 2000, having obtained the DipWCF at Hereford School of Farriery. In 2005 he passed the AWCF. He runs workshops for farriers in Spain as well as weekend clinics and is involved in Spain's Farrier Association. He is also the Chairman of the Eastern Counties Branch of NAFBAE and a liveryman of the WCF.

Alejandro Sepulveda Maroto
Alex has just joined the team after 7 years of shoeing in Madrid, Spain. He has a passion for the thoroughbred industry and has ridden as a Gentleman Rider in Spain and Italy. Having two uncles that are farriers in Spain, Alex has farriery in his blood. He served his apprenticeship with Jorge Maroto. He is here as a registered overseas farrier and is determined to obtain the DipWCF.

Anthony Metcalf DipWCF
Tony has been a farrier for 15 years. He was a groom before his apprenticeship with Chris Lissner in Andover. After qualifying he worked in Hampshire before moving to Northern Ireland for 3 years. He represented NI in an international farriery competition at Clonmell. He joined us in 2004 to look after one of our larger racing yards and to concentrate on our hot shoeing rounds.

Christopher Rae DipWCF
Chris attended the Pre-Farriery Course at Oatridge Agricultural College in 1997 before apprenticing with Jim Ferrie FWCF. He represented Scotland as an apprentice farrier before passing the DipWCF examination in 2002. He ran his own business until joining O. A. Curtis and Sons in 2006. Chris concentrates mainly on shoeing horses in training.

Colin Winston Seymour DipWCF
Colin began his career as a farrier in the South African Defence Force in 1983. He then worked for the Timm Brothers Farriers in Natal until 1988, when he set up on his own in Camperdown. He was Champion Farrier in SA in 2001 and then competed at Calgary in 2005 and Stoneleigh in 2006. He joined us in 2007 and passed the DipWCF in 2008.

Christopher Westlake
Chris (Jasper) is from Birmingham. After leaving school he worked in the building industry. He attended the Pre-Farriery Course at Warwick Agricultural College where he gained his Forging Certificate in July 2007. Jasper then began his apprenticeship with us and is attending Myerscough Farrier School.

Rebecca Ellen Lowe
Becky comes from Chase Terrace in Staffordshire. After school she worked as a rider in a yard importing and exporting Irish and Warmblood horses. She then worked in the hospitality industry before returning to work with horses for Philippa Dobby. Becky worked for Wayne Preece AWCF and gained her Forging Certificate before joining our team to begin her apprenticeship.

Jess Dennison
Jess was born in Newmarket in 1987. After leaving school he attended the CRC Football Academy before working in the hospitality industry. He joined us as a trainee in 2008.

Michael Tomkinson DipWCF
Michael started as a farrier in 2001, gaining experience with Ruaridh Robb. He completed the Pre-Farriery Course at Oatridge and went on to study for his diploma at the same college. His apprenticeship was with S Chatterton in Lincolnshire and S Hewitt in Yorkshire where he worked at Mark Johnston’s racing stables. After qualifying Michael shod in the north of Scotland before joining us in 2008.
