Shoeing

Racing stables

We have a qualified farrier on duty before first lot at every yard. Horses are checked and shod with steel or plated with aluminium as necessary. We aim to shoe to achieve the maximum performance in the horses in our care. Some of the racing trainers who are our clients include Michael Jarvis, James Fanshaw, Mark Tompkins and Gill Duffield.

Stud farms
We look after some of the largest public studs and smaller private studs around Newmarket, covering an area of up to 30 miles from the forge. Our farriers are trained to give specialist attention to foals and yearlings and to shoe mares for comfort and long term soundness. We shoe for sales to help our clients get the best price for their consignments. Our stud clients include Shadwell, New England, Newsells Park, The National Stud, Glebe House, Red House, Dullingham, Deerfield, Stanley House and Aisleby.

Hot shoeing
We have farriers who are trained to (and enjoy) hot shoeing. Whether it is a family pony or a yard of competitive sports horses, we can shoe them. We shoe in the forge but also have a mobile forge to visit yards within a 25 mile radius.

Remedial shoeing
We specialise in remedial and corrective shoeing, both for our own clients and those of Rossdale’s Equine Hospital; and we have farriers trained to Associate and Fellowship level. Much of this experience is reflected in Simon’s textbooks: Corrective Farriery - A Textbook of Remedial Horseshoeing, Volumes I & II and two of his staff members contributed chapters (Russ Brownrigg and Sergio Muelle-Goldstein).
